For anyone ever touched by two seemingly very different bands, The Persuasions and U2, the possibilities of their creative encounter are thrilling. Since their creation in 1962, The Persuasions have become synonymous with doo-wop: New York's rhythmic a-cappella harmony sound, invoking both Africa and gospel, that started spontaneously under streetlights on Brooklyn corners, and helped forge American popular music in the 1950s.

Oceans away, and decades later, U2 burst out of Ireland's 1970s' punk rock scene and transcended it with uplifting anthems over a three decade career that's never slowed. Consistency and longevity are qualities the bands share, but the soaring unaccompanied singing on this, the Persuasions' twenty-seventh album, reveals profound connections to enrich us all. The two groups' fusion does ignite.

"We fell in love with the artistry of U2." - Jimmy Hayes
