Chris Isaak's new album First Comes The Night produced by Paul Worley (Dixie Chicks, Lady Antebellum), Dave Cobb (Jason Isbell) and longtime Isaak collaborator Mark Needham will be released on Vanguard Records. Recorded primarily in Nashville and Los Angeles, First Comes The Night is Isaak's 13th studio album and first recording of all original songs in over six years.
"The album is best when Isaak's doing his twangy take on Roy Orbison, such as the defiant shuffle "Please Don't Call," the rockabilly-infected "Down In Flames," the cinematic "Some Days Are Harder Than The Rest," and the honky-tonk ballad "The Way Things Really Are." - Greg Cahill, The Absolute Sound, 4.5/5 Music, 3.5/5 Sonics
